A warmup drawing I did last night from Lookbook.

wow! that cover is beautiful! and those demons on the back are adorable :D
Thank you!! I had so much fun making the demons on the back cover. :D
I recently had the great opportunity to do the covers for the literatura juvenil (~young adult) novel 10000 Demonios by Miguel de Luis Espinosa! Longtime readers may recognize characters from past commissioned projects made during the book’s early stages, which you can see on the book’s site.
- The official website is here: http://www.10000demonios.com/
- You can also find it directly on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/10000-Demonios-aspirantes-paladines-profec%C3%ADa/dp/1500721794/
- He talks about the book on his SabiaVida site here: http://sabiavida.com/10000-demonios-mi-novela-de-literatura-juvenil/
(Indeed, the book and sites are all in Spanish.)
Now, digital drawing is great fun and all, but there is something really special about holding an object in your hands that is wrapped in your marks. Definitely a thrill! :)
A Throwback Thursday redraw of something I made in high school for our King Lear unit in AP English Lit! We were encouraged to do something creative at the end of each unit and of course I chose to draw ALL THE THINGS.
Exhibit A, anime desu
As King Lear was based on “Leir of Britain, a mythological pre-Roman Celtic king" (thank you, Wikipedia), I changed the vaguely princessy dress to something more grounded in ancient Celtic reality. Also, that lettering.
I last visited the high school many years ago, and the old drawing was still taped to my English teacher’s desk. I swelled with a combination of pride and embarassment.
